AskMeCha: I'm looking for online creative writing communities.[More:]

I'm writing an article about literature on the interwebs and was wondering if any of you could point me to some interesting literary communities. I'm not asking for you to do my research for me. I could easily search Google for "creative writing communities" and get an assload of results, but I want to do this the old-fashioned way by asking others (ie you) to tell me about interesting sites they (you) know about. I'm hoping to get a bit of insider information in this way -- like what got (and keeps) you hooked.
I've done some research into local (Estonian) communities and I think I have a pretty good idea of what "Internet literature" is (most of it is crap). What I lack is perspective. I want to see what the possibilities of Internet writing are, to figure out where it could lead.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that NaNoWriMo and MeFi writers circle are already on my list.

Readerville.com. Great site, a number of published writers there are very helpful. Other members are really loyal. Some interesting publishers have shown up to visit. Site software is crappy*, causing the site owner to overcharge for membership. Visiting is free.

*It's webcrossing, which doesn't work with Google ads or any other reasonable ads, and which I don't like much.
