Somewhere Over The Rainbow - What A Wonderful World by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. Composed for ukelele.
I've heard this song in a bunch of commercials but never knew who it was. Sadly, he died at 38.

I absolutely love this guy. I have a couple of his CDs. Haven't listened to them for a while, must dig them out today.

essexjan, share some of his songs????

His voice is just haunting. Very human... sad, yet happy. Weighty and weighed upon, but still somehow light.

I sound like a fucking Hallmark card. Whatever. I just find his voice to be very real, genuine, simple-yet-complex, innocent-yet-knowledged.

There's a lot of conflict, there.

This is a great song, I've been listening to ukulele music all evening.

Yes, arse_hat, when I find the CDs!

I found the 'Facing Future' album and am leaving the files uploading whilst I go out. I'll post the link to the .zip file later.

I have some good ukulele stuff, if I can revive a suspect drive.

Actually, forget that. I've found it on You tube anyway. Long Way to the Top by the Melbourne Ukulele Kollective.

That was the song playing while Dr. Mark Green died on "ER" some years ago. Though I knew the song before that (damned if I know how) I'll always associate it with that incredibly tragic moment. I'd love to hear some more of his stuff if anyone's got some.

Here's the album, Facing Future. It's a 50-odd MB download.

Wow, this was one of my "most played" songs when I had a laptop (this must have been 4 years ago!). Laptop died, and I've never reconstructed that playlist. Thanks!

Rock Steady, that's where I first heard this song, and I loved it. I've since heard it in other commercials and such, and I still love it. I need to get one of his cds.
