UPDATE: My dad left a message on my voicemail saying that he'll have the heart surgery on the 21st, which means Thanksgiving will be spent at the hospital. →[More:] My plan is to go to LA on the 19th, stay for 10 days and then (barring the worst) leave for Holland. If anything happens while I'm there I'll cut the trip short.

The woman who wrote the memoir read tonight at Dutton's BH, but I don't know if my uncle or dad ( I told him she was expecting to see him) went.

I'm sorry your family's Thanksgiving will be so stressful. I very much hope that your father's surgery will go smoothly, and that your trip to Holland is wonderful!

Yes to everything Specklet said.

I spent last Thanksgiving trying to help my father recover from an injury. It was both more stressful and sweeter than I had expected. I wish you and your family good things.
