Once there was a band from Minneapolis, →[More:]called Soul Asylum. They were like lots of bands laboring in bars and clubs around the country. They had a nice raw blurry sound and a
nice songwriting touch, that got them played on Vin Scelsa's morning show back in the day. They had a huge hit with a
song that nicely mirrored the isolation felt by a college flunkout working nights in a bakery. Then also did a
nice Victoria Williams cover for a charity record, and contributed a
track to the soundtrack of
one of the greatest movies ever.
Then they fired their drummer and cut a couple of really shitty albums and ceased being relevant or entertaining in any way whatsoever. I blame Winona Ryder.
