The food engineers are resting on their laurels! Last night, I dreamt of the mighty Scallapeno! (a bivalve mollusk crossed with a chile) If you could engineer any combination of plants, animals, or basically any physical matter for eating by just the power of your imagination what would it be?
There are ones that I'd actually eat, like apple and cheese = Chapple.
But I'm really interested in the far out ones. For instance, I'm not sure how a scallapeno would taste but I do like the name. And, I think what kind of life would a hot little mollusk have for instance, if it were naturally occurring and not farmed by biocorp, usa.

Not way out, but I would really appreciate a nice pre-rinsed Crouromugula (croutons/romain/arugula). If the truth be told, sometimes I'm just too lazy to make the salad.

Like, right now, as a matter of fact.

I want applurians... or duriapples.

Durian with easy to peel skin.

And maybe less smelly.

I'm imagining what a Crouromugula would look like: perhaps it retains it's square breadlike features but has romain wings and arugula insides....yum, for me too, btw.

I'm wondering about the cow-orker... beef and pork mixed, not someone from an office building!

Damned possesive, not contraction, shouldn't be there apostrophe! It slays me every time.

I'd love a pinenut. Oh, there already is something called a pinenut. Well I would like a pineapple/coconut combination, please. Sir.

A Coconana would be nice too - a coconut/banana combination. There's a place near me that makes a raw treat - frozen bananas with shredded fresh coconut in it. It's orgasmic! So, to sum up, I would like coconanas and pinenuts.

You'd need, like, dynamite to ge through that pinenut shell! Sounds good to eat, what a treat!

Since the pinenut is shaped like a grenade already, it could probably blow itself up! And then it would rain pineapple/coconut juice, and everyone would be happy. Pina Coladas for all!

mmm so many great fruit combos.

I would also like many meat/fruit combinations. porkupine - pineapple-infused pork
pluck - a plum flavored duck

the list would go quite long.

Also, I like peanutbutter and pear... but when I thought of "pearnutbutter" ... what it could be sounds even more delicious than peanutbutter and pear. Mmmmm! Pearnutbutter!

I made the salad, by the way, and I'm glad

porkupine would be super awesome, I can even see that evolving naturally (kind of).

I think I need to go have some lunch now!

Why choose between steak'n'eggs and bacon'n'eggs when you can have eggs and steakon?
posted by dersins 09 September | 15:26
Okay, I made some really nice melitzanasalata (creamy eggplant salad) for supper, which has inspired the auberghini (eggplant and tahini). You won't know whether to eat it or drive it!
posted by taz 09 September | 15:36
If there's eggplant in it, I'll be driving over with heavy machinery.

That sentence would have been perfect with another It.

In the tradition of Combos (cheese-filled pretzels) and ("that beer that has candy floating in it, you know,") Skittlebrau I present Combobrau, The Pretzels Filled With Beer! First you eat the pretzel, and then when you're good and thirsty, you open the beer and drink it. And then you'll probably want another pretzel...

Gorgonzolamaine, a dark green leafy plant bearing firm but crumbly white-and-blue berries.
posted by Wolfdog 09 September | 17:51
If the pretzel is filled with beer, can't I eat and drink at the same time? Ahhhh...new efficiencies achieved!!! Excellent idea.
