06 June 2006

We got ourselves a good ole fashion barn raising [More:]Or not. But I think this is pretty cool to see. My parents are building a house on the top of the mountain. Yesterday, they raised the timber frame.
That IS cool. . .

Now, have you gotten a call, or THE call, about your job???

I really like the photos where the framing is ..er.. framed against the sky. They really show off the structure. And boy, what gorgeous views your parents are going to have!

*waits for invitation to visit*

I hear you, deborah. I keep telling them that I will be moving in with them.

That's awesome. Those timber frame houses are amazing to see go up. It's like "presto! instahouse", but a NICE one.

It's a little sad that people looking back at the mountain the house is on won't have the same unspoiled a view.

You know how in the movie Q, the quezalcoatl-flying-snake-thing that's terrorizing whatever city they're supposed to be in, where people keep turning up "peeled like an orange," has a special technique for remaining unseen while flying about during daylight hours? As one scientist puts (and I paraphrase) it, "When someone looks up at the monster, it flies directly between the viewer and the sun to hide."

Anyway, when people look back on the mountain the house is on, they can't see it, because the house is directly between the viewer and the sun, hidden.

Hi Lola_G!

Hi Hugh!

And the house is covered with trees. While I appreciate the sentiment, dano, I don't know where you can see that mountain top in the surrounding area. Maybe other mountain tops?

Its remote. And I haven't made my way up there without getting white knuckled and sick yet.

Strangely there are wild dogs up there though.

And bears...lots o' bears.

There aren't any quezalcoatl-flying-snake-things there, are there?

I don't know. I've looked but I keep getting blinded by the sun!

Momma always told me not to look into the sights of the sun,
But momma that's where all the fu-un is!
