I'm sorry, but NOW's biggest concern is the cancellation of Lifetime TV? "Reminiscent of the pay gap between men and women, Lifetime reports that DISH is paying higher rates for less popular networks."

Yes. That's totally comparable. Making 70-odd cents on the dollar is TOTALLY equivalent to not being able to watch Meredith Baxter Birney movies on cable.

I had to call Dish Net last night because my PBS (and all my other local stations) disappeared. The recording I got told me to press 1 for the missing Lifetime Channel. I wondered what the hell that meant.

Wow. I feel better about being bummed that Newsworld International got dropped from DirecTV's lineup. I bet Al Gore wrecked it.

Meredith Baxter Birney is kinda MILFy. As long as my Cable system keeps carrying TV Land, ESPN Classic, and Turner Classic Movies, I'll be fine. It's all part of my project to live completely in the past.

As of right now my big toe is in 1972. I'll keep you posted.

I actually don't debate the general worth of the Lifetime Channel, just NOW's decision to make it one of their top issues. That link came from their last newsletter: Save Roe! Defeat Alito! Protect same-sex marriage! Save....Lifetime TV?

Priorities seem a bit out of whack, here.

(Especially the bit comparing it to the wage gap. I mean, seriously, WTF?)

I hate the Lifetime network.
All movies follow one of several stock plots.
1. Woman (select at least one):
a. is dying/addicted to something
b. is cheated on/cheats
c. has a troubled child
d. has abusive husband

2. Insert single male supporting actor.
Insert former TV star now past her glory.
Insert overwrought drama.
Insert teen actor from second-rate prime time show.
Sandwich between reruns of The Golden Girls and Supermarket Sweep

3. ???

4. Profit! (or not, in this case.)

(sorry, could not resist. also, this is my mom's favorite channel. She watches it constantly. Give me bizarre History channel shows about Hitlers's secret lover/drug problem/psychosis/sexual kink/etc over this any day.)
