Somewhere in the middle of nowhere, there is a man. This man is a hermit, obviously, but he's still got it together upstairs. Right at this exact moment, he is smiling, yes, right now. He is smiling because he just told himself the funniest joke that a human has ever come up with, and he bursts out laughing. Laughing so hard that tears roll down his face and his aging, arthritic dog looks at him with his head cocked, wondering why the hermit is behaving this way. But then the hermit stops laughing, because he realizes that he can share that joke with no one, because he knows no one. The hermit is now sad.
I just ordered a new digital camera. Canon S2 5.0 megapixel vs the 2.0 that I currently use. Sometime next year I am getting a Digital SLR if money permits, but I need a good carry-everywhere digicam too. I am going to pay part of the cost and let the mother person pay part and call it a Christmas gift.
Our conference went very well. We only lost about a grand and we got everything done that was needed. I'm exhausted. (that last part is not good, but it is an anticipated and inescapable consequence.)
Amberglow: It wasn't until I read his blog that I realized Fat Charlie and his brother were black. I just finished re-reading it with that knowledge and got a new understanding and appreciation for that book.
I learned to knit yesterday and now I'm halfway through a really ugly scarf but I love it, yes, I love it and if there was world enough and time I would knit a bunny for each and every one of you.
Something good, eh?
Well, Specklet, I know you're a McSweeney's fan... so you might be interested to know The McSweeney's Publishing Empire has a brand-new DVD Magazine called Wholphin -- the 1st issue is bundled together with The Believer issue 30 (on stands now!) and will also be included in the upcoming issue of McSweeney's. I was watching some of the DVD last night and it is good, good indeed.
You know when I like hot chocolate and yogurt? When I'm relaxing in front of a roaring fire watching Wholphin, from the good people at McSweeney's, now available on DVD! May cause rectal tremors.
It's the mister's burfday today. He's 55, officially a senior in some parts. Man, I married an ol' fart. Actually, you'd never know he was that old unless I told you. Which I just did. So, um... Yeah.
Today at work, one of our frequent customers brought me a box of chocolates for Christmas because he said I always had a smile for him no matter how busy I was. That was pretty good.
No problem, Fuzzy. (I just checked back cause it occurred to me that my last comment might have sounded all dramatic and stuff when it totally wasn't. It's just that I've been having too much fun around the MetaVerse this morning, and meanwhile, duties are being shirked. So your comment (which I thought was clever) was a very timely reminder that it was time for me to step away from the keyboard and be all responsible and stuff). So, thanks. And I'm glad you enjoy the fracturing.
Also arse_hat - Although that's not my doing, it's a pretty accurate look inside my head.
And smile, Specklet. Somewhere, 10,000 bunnies are getting lucky.
Speck, SF guys are simply adorable when the weather gets chilly and they're all wrapped up in sweaters and scarves and comfy coats. Dozens walk & bike past my window every day. All day. You should get a big cuppa tea and sit with me and my tree and watch guys go by.
It would be even better than fondling those Frye boots down the street that we want so badly.
You want something good? How about something GREAT! We have a secure tunnel running over SSL. You have no idea how frickin great that is! We've sold six installations so far and spent the money to pay the staff to write the software. We had hoped to deliver 4 weeks ago but the software was still not working. So I had spent 6 figures of other people’s money and had nothing to deliver.
Now it works. I can deliver a functioning product this week. I am so FUCKING HAPPY!!!!!! The idea of finding a way to cough up $200,000 at Christmas (hell at any time) was making me ill. HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY.
P.S.
I am Happy! Hapfreekinapy!
P.P.S.
Thanks for keeping me entertained through 18 hour work days. U guys r cool.
Thanks! I am packing servers into the truck right now. Leaving for Toronto in about 2 hours. I hope to have all installs done by Friday. Man I feel so good I could scream!
