I'm sick and cranky, and I want a pony. But I'll forgo the pony if someone links me to an intersting short story on the internets. [More:]Just something fictional though. Sci-fi, general, gay cowboys in love, I'm not very picky when high on Dayquil. I'll read anything as long as it's at least been through a spell checker. Thank you.
This one might make you feel better. :-)

Do you know about 365 Tomorrows? One original short short piece of sci-fi every day for a year.

Hey, Bob Shaw! One of my favorite drunken Irishmen. Thanks, dhruva, it's been awhile.

This story,
by Robert Silverberg (from the same site) is also pretty good. My dad paraphrased it to me when I was about eight (although I'm not sure that he ever read it; he may have just come up with the concept on his own), and I never forgot it.

No cowboys, but a good story anyway. Written by a friend of mine.

JERRY: I didn't know she had a pony. How was I to know she had a pony? Who figures an immigrant's going to have a pony? Do you know what the odds are on that? I mean, in all the pictures I saw of immigrants on boats coming into New York harbor, I never saw one of them sitting on a pony. Why would anybody come here if they had a pony? Who leaves a country packed with ponies to come to a non-pony country? It doesn't make sense...am I wrong?

Self-link. I specifically recommend Eddigan's Cycle.
